Powell Fenwick Consultants approached Impressions to provide an exterior spotlight on their project to illuminate the Luge in Queenstown.
They required a fitting that had good glare control, could take dichroic coloured lenses, was physically small with a high light output and had a 5 year warranty.
Ligman's Zaab 1 spotlight was the best option as it has various glare control options and red, green, yellow and blue dichroic filters.
Powell Fenwick then requested a higher light output from the standard Zaab 1 spotlight as they were concerned that the dichroic filters might reduce the light output dramatically.
Ligman were able to provide 50% more light output without compromising the life of the fitting, completing not only thermal checks, but also providing LM-79 test reports and IES files for the Zaab 1 using the glare cowls and each different dichroic filter being used on the project.
We then provided the client with 6 samples of the Zaab 1 spotlights with dichroic filters and low glare cowls so that they could mock up an area and test out the light fittings.
These needed to get approval from the Queenstown District Council along with their own Consultants as they were concerned about spilled light and the night time effect on the environment from this lighting scheme.
The end lighting result is stunning and has proved to be a real hit that has exceeded the client’s expectations.
